Kendal is notoriously difficult to navigate if you're not used to the traffic system, so while Sat Nav's have revolutionised road travel, they're fairly useless in Kendal's town centre!
That said, once you get into Kendal successfully, you need to find a car park, as Bootleggers is in a pedestrianised street.
The town is well signposted. Follow signs to the centre and Bootleggers will be only a short walk from any central car park.
Customers
A good place to park in an evening (unless the traveling fair is in town!) is New Road (by the River Kent), as it is free. See CAR PARKS across.
From the motorway -
Kendal is about 8 miles west of the M6 and depending which direction you are coming from, you can exit at:
- junction 36 (Crooklands A590)
- junction 37 (Sedbergh A684)
- junction 38 (Tebay A685)
- junction 39 (Shap A6)
From the Lakes -
Kendal is on the A591
From Barrow -
Take the A590, then the A591

Bands
Bands need to unload any gear from Kendal Market Place (LA9 4TP).
There is an alleyway (blue gate & door) between Middletons Ironmongers and Timpsons, which is the fire exit from Bootleggers' stage area.
If the blue door is locked, call the bar on 01539 723824 and someone will open it.
There are very strict parking
restrictions in the market place and wardens will donate a ticket to anyone who flouts them.
Please ensure you read the relevant signage as Bootleggers will not be liable for any parking fines accrued.
Staff will advise where to leave vehicles after unloading, depending on the day of the week.
Please note that there is a market each Wednesday and Saturday and so access is available only after 5pm.
Car Parks
New Road (by the River Kent) is free, and once the majority of daytime workers have gone home, usually has plenty of space (unavailable when the traveling fair is in Kendal).
Once parked at New Road, walk up Kent Street (the entrance is opposite Miller Bridge just after Frydays Chip Shop) and turn left up Finkle Street at the corner of Beales.
Bootleggers is on your right between Infusion and Wave Jewellers.
